Amaretti cookies, those delightful little bites of chewy almond goodness, have a history as rich as their flavor! Originating from Italy, these cookies were first crafted in the 18th century in the town of Saronno, where legend tells that a local pastry chef created them as a gift for a visiting queen. With only a handful of ingredients - powdered almonds, sugar, and egg whites - they prove that simplicity can indeed be divine. The secret lies in the bitter almond flavor, which adds a sophisticated touch, making it impossible to stop at just one.
